# 1443  Penn Yan On To The Championships

Penn Yan scored eight of the last nine goals in thier 10-7 win over Chenango Forks. The Mustangs return to the Finals for the first time since 2016. In 2016, they lost to Cold Spring Harbor 15-4. The Mustangs won the State Title in 2001 over Manhassett 9-8. For this year's Tournament, Penn Yan will face Pleasantville, who defeated Mattituck 20-7 in the other Semi Final game. The leading scorer tonight for the Mustangs was Colton Smith, who finished with 1g-4a. Austin Blumbergs finished with 4g and was instrumental at the face-off to give the Mustangs possession through the second half. Overall, Penn Yan won 11 straight face-offs to finish the game.

# 1442  2018 Herb Fitch Senior Game Teams Announced

The Rochester Chapter of USLacrosse has announced the 2018 Herb Fitch Lacrosse All Star Game player selections. This year`s contest, featuring some of the best of the graduating seniors will be held on Thursday, June 14th at Victor High School. The boys` game will start at 8:00 PM after the girls` play at 6:00 PM and the youth clinic which starts at 4:30.

# 1435  Penn Yan Wins 23rd Title

Penn Yan won their 23rd Section Five Title tonight with an 8-6 win over Aquinas.  The Mustangs took an early 6-1 lead and held off the late advances by Aquinas.  The Little Irish scored five of the last seven goals to pull within two.  The  Final Aquinas goal was scored with 7:21 remaining and the final seven minutes were back and forth play with Penn Yan holding the ball and Aquinas trying to force their shots.

# 1266  Akron Advances over Penn Yan in Overtime

Section Six representative Akron defeated Section Five representative Penn Yan 10-9 in the Western Regional Championship.  The game was tied after regulation and the Tigers scored the game winning goal in the second overtime period.

# 1259  Penn Yan Wins 22nd Title

Penn Yan won their twenty-second Section Five Title (seventh consecutive) with a 13-6 win over Waterloo.  The Mustangs scored the first four goals and held the Indians scoreless for the entire first quarter.  Waterloo scored four of the last five goals to pull the score closer than the game played.  A key component to the Mustang victory was midfielder Connor Fingar at the face-off draw.  Fingar won nearly all the face-offs and was named Class D All Tournament MVP.

The All Tournament Teams for 2017 were announced at each final. MVPs for A and C were Colby Barker (Pittsford) and James Blazey (Pal-Mac). In the Class B, the award went to Andrew Russell (Victor) and in the class D it went to Connor Finger (Penn Yan).

# 1236  Horan Scores Game Winner in Second Overtime

Webster Thomas took their first lead with an overtime goal from Colin Horan in the second overtime period to defeat Penn Yan 9-8.  The Mustangs led for major portions of the game and had a three goal lead with 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.  Thomas scored the final four goals of the match-up to force overtime and take the win.

DAY IN REVIEW: Canandaigua saw four lead changes but managed to win their game with Brother Rice from Michigan (5-3). Devin Andrews (2g-1a) scored the winning goal with 4:09 left in regulation. Mark Belles scored 3g and Mitch Pfeiffer added 1g-2a for the Braves (6-2). Tim Rice made 10s (71%) and Brandon Moore recorded 6s (67%) for CA.

# 1144  Blumbergs Overtime Goal Lifts Penn Yan

March 30, 2017 - Austin Blumbergs scored unassisted, 0:21 into the second overtime period to give Penn Yan the 7-6 win over Haverling.  Blumbergs scored a total of 3g-2a to be a part of five out of seven goals.  The Rams led for the majority of the game, with Penn Yan only leading for 1:39 throughout the entire contest.
